arpaora

Born in Jerez, Ana Crismán is the creator of the first Flamenco Harp album in the history of music and flamenco. She is the first artist to perform and compose with this instrument in the Flamenco world. Using a language and code that are purely flamenco, she has created a ‘toque’ (playing style) for the harp that is rooted, purely, and uniquely adapted to the instrument’s personality and essence. She is a unique artist, completely original and a pioneer of a new expression within the genre. This album will be a milestone in the History of Music, as the birth of the first source and reference for the harp within Flamenco. Avant-garde and tradition merge in her compositions, opening flamenco to new soundscapes. Coming from Jerez, she participates in the continuous evolution of this art form, which has been growing since Paco de Lucía began incorporating new instruments into flamenco. Ana Crismán has turned the harp into a versatile, fast, rhythmic instrument: now capable of expressing itself through all flamenco styles.

ARPAORA takes us on a journey of original compositions (both music and lyrics) through the most representative styles of the genre, forming what will become the ‘classic’ flamenco repertoire for the harp—just as Sabicas or Niño Ricardo are for the guitar.

With the EP premiere at the World Music Festival in Chicago (USA, 2024) and the official debut at the Flamenco Festival of Jerez, Ellas Crean Festival in Madrid (SPAIN, 2025), and Círculo Flamenco in Vienna (AUSTRIA, 2025), this album marks the starting point of the arpaora in the Flamenco Universe.

Featured collaborations include artists such as Jorge Pardo, Vicente Soto Sordera, Jesús Méndez, La Macanita, and José Valencia, among others.
