Beginnings

Jerez: cradle of flamenco art

Flamenco cannot be overlooked in Jerez. It’s in the air you breathe, in every nook and cranny, at every street corner.

From childhood, she lived surrounded by the flamenco of her native Jerez, a region par excellence for this art. The music of La Plazuela and the San Miguel neighborhood (where Lola Flores herself was born) accompanied her through her upbringing, immersing her in flamenco from birth. Cerrofuerte Street (where “la Paquera de Jerez” was born) was witness to her youth and love for flamenco. She regularly visited flamenco clubs like Peña Los Cernícalos and Peña “La Bulería” on Mariñíguez Street, drawn there by her passion for flamenco. As well as the old Flamenco Fridays at the Astoria Cinema, the Bulería Festival in the bullring, the annual Flamenco Festival, concerts at Plaza de la Asunción, the peña circuits, the fair, flamenco Christmas, guitar and singing competitions… Jerez’s flamenco events, which she never missed. Not to mention the spontaneous flamenco that erupts in Jerez’s streets, stopping time… the behind-closed-doors parties, the deeply moving singing so characteristic of Jerez—it has always been a continual source of inspiration.

University

She began her music education at the age of 6, studying piano at the Conservatory and finishing with a degree in her teens.
Her curious mind led her to graduate not only from the Conservatory but also from university. She holds a degree in Music History and Science, with a specialization in Flamencology.
She has worked as a music teacher in both Conservatories and Universities, teaching in both Spanish and English.
